Mirror neurons are neurons that fire when you perform an action and when you see someone perform an action. It is theorized that this is the most basic model for learning: imitation. It is also noticed that children with autism have decreased mirror neuron activity. Could this be the cause of autism? Researchers are currently investigating this concept.
